Gestern habe ich eine Präsentation und das zugehörige Abstrakt vorbereitet. Der Vortrag wird nächste Woche stattfinden, danach werde ich berichten, ob es gut gelaufen ist.
Beim Erarbeiten habe ich allerdings feststellen können, dass ich noch nicht ganz vertrottelt bin.

Yes, it is true. Definitely a program can not excel in some disciplines that have not been tried yet. I have an ongoing discussion with a quite intelligent guy who claims that a computer could not have a feeling for art. Personally, I am still working on that argument although I don't consider it a "killing threat".
A hundred years ago, a very famous Austrian writer and journalist wrote about the general attitude of the people that could not accept the steam engine and its consequence, the train. If the train is going faster than 30 km/h the devil will come and fetch you. This is just one example of many, where people could not cope with the imagination of other foreseeing humans. I admit that I also have my limits of imagining certain contents of science fiction. Actually, there are just two of them; a) time travel backwards in time and b) beaming (if you know Startrek). Both hesitations of mine are based on the problem of very, very big numbers. Even if we have Terabyte hard disks nowadays, the actual storage must be much bigger for this disks in order to take care of statistical errors. But with beaming every single particle even on a subatomic stage would have to be reproduced without any error.
I had my own resentments in the past: why would be need color monitors? I could not see any advantage it it. I was wrong - just like Ken Olson from Digital Equipment Corp. when whe underestimated the importance of the personal computer.
I thought Go would be still a winner for the next ten years. I was wrong. However, I was right in one specific assumption. You have to work with several strategies and have them operate in conjunction. I have claimed this in a different context of quality control. It is not possible to test software by just using one strategy. (e.g. test automation) I could prove this by a geometry example. My assumption still holds true. It is one of the main features that AlphaGo combines two Neural Networks and Monte Carlo methods apart from the nitty-gritty part of handling the game.
If people argue about what the computer will never be able to achieve they will be surprised about some details which are not so favourable for the human comfort in the future.

Ich habe nach den ersten zwei Partien so etwas schon geahnt. Vorher allerdings nicht. Meine Vorhersagen über die Leistungsmöglichkeiten der künstlichen Intelligenz haben sich nur hinsichtlich der Zeitangabe relativiert.
Ich weiß, das einige Menschen argumentieren werden: ja, aber das kann der Computer nicht und das kann er auch nicht und künstlerisch hat er keine Fähigkeiten. Über das Thema diskutierte ich schon manchmal, schon seit über 50 Jahre.
Interessant finde ich nur meine Erfahrung, dass es eine Korrelation zwischen der Intelligenz eines Menschen und der Anerkennung, dass der Computer vielleicht einmal besser denkt als der Mensch, gibt. Je intelligenter ein Mensch ist, desto mehr räumt er die Möglichkeit, dass KI den Menschen in den "Denkleistungen" überholen kann.
Doch können momentan Menschen noch mehr andere Menschen umbringen und vergewaltigen, als das der Computer kann. Darin zeigt sich nämlich unsere spezielle "menschliche" Intelligenz. Wir machen Dinge, die sich letztlich gegen unsere eigenen Interessen richten.

Weil wir ja so gescheit sind !!!

Vor zwei Tagen schrieb ich dieses:

Dass dieser Sieg so rasch wiederholt werden kann, hätte ich nicht angenommen.
Es ist anzunehmen, dass wir in Zukunft noch in weiterer Weise überrascht werden.
Einige Menschen meinen noch immer, dass der Computer nur das tut, wofür er VOM MENSCHEN programmiert wurde. An den Selbstlernfähigkeiten von Programmen kann mittlerweile aber kaum mehr gezweifelt werden.

Sagenhaft, was ich manchmal zusammengeschrieben habe.
Da ich jetzt in Pension bin, habe ich Zeit, manche Sachen anzusehen, die ich nur deswegen erinnere, weil ich Kommentare anderer Personen gemeldet bekomme.

Detection rules could be:

Why not IT- Collective Aggreement? Although I admit that I was not in a bad situation when I worked under this agreement 36 years ago:)

Well, it would be interesting, what they would offer to me. Actually, 5 years ago, I might have been interested. Nowadays, I will retire in 3 months. I still don't feel good when I read this offer. When I accepted a similar job in 1999, I hat a net gross salary of around 90.000 €. (Although that was still payed in Schillings)
I firmly believe that whoever gets the job would have to have very good capabilities that would entitle him to a much higher salary than listed. And I don't accept that "minimal" phrase. Would they accept somebody who is happy with that "minimal" salary?

Meine Freunde und Kollegen kennen mein Dilemma:
der begeisterte Techniker, der sich speziell für alles, was mit dem Computer zusammenhängt, begeistert hat, ist ein frustrierter Fast-Pensionist geworden, der sich kaum mehr für die Technik begeistern kann.

Natürlich stimmt das nur zum Teil. Ich lese nach wie vor über technische Innovationen, die aber mittlerweile - wenn sie beschrieben werden - auf Hintergrundwissen zurückgreifen, dass ich nicht mehr in allen Fällen parat habe.

Ich selbst mache mich aber darüber lustig, dass technischer Fortschritt heute nur mehr zu bedeuten scheint, dass ein Handy um einen halben Millimeter dünner und allenfalls 5 mm breiter wird. Ich werde dann mitleidig belächelt - und ich selbst lächle mit. Denn es ist eine Schande, als anscheinend Frustrierter zu den Gestrigen zu gehören.

Das übernächste iPhone soll nur mehr 6 mm dünn werden, die derzeitigen 6,9 mm, (die Angabe gilt für das bald erscheinende neue Gerät) werden als "wesentlicher dicker" betrachtet.

Alles in allem heißt das nur, dass meine missmutige, grantelnde Einstellung gar nicht so dumm ist. Allerdings warte ich noch darauf, dass das iPhone 8 nur mehr - (minus) 2 mm dick ist. Ich weiß zwar nicht, wie man es dann bedienen kann, aber es wird ein einzigartiges Alleinstellungsmerkmal haben.

56k Modem
Andrew Spaulding hat einen durchaus interessanten Artikel darüber geschrieben, wie es ihm mit einer Woche Einschränkung auf ein 56 k Modem gegangen ist.
Für Nicht-Techniker:
In den 90er-Jahren war das so ziemlich die schnellste Verbindung, die man über Telefonleitungen bekommen hat.
Als Fossil habe ich mich auch mit 110, 330, 1200, 2400,4800 und 33600 herumgeschlagen. Irgendwann hatte ich dann auch 56k und das war der reinste Luxus.
Wenn ich mir z.B. mein Email-Programm herunter laden wollte, als Snob verwendete ich Lotus Notes, so musste ich für 60 Megabyte ungefähr 6 Stunden warten. Und in der Zeit sollte das Telefon nicht klingeln, sonst waren die ersten Stunden Übertragung verloren.
Ich blieb also in der Nacht auf und hoffte, dass ich nicht zu viele Anäufe brauchte.
Jetzt muss man aber wissen, dass man mit den Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten durchaus arbeiten konnte, wenn man nicht von Bildern abhängig war. Mit der Grazer Uni war ich über sechs Kanäle gleichzeitig verbunden, um Radar-Erfassungen zu steuern und die Software zu modifizieren.

Ich kann mir das gut vorstellen. Für mich war ein 33k6 Modem das Höchste der Gefühle - lange Zeit. Auch als Software-Architekt musste ich darauf Rücksicht nehmen, dass unsere Zweigstellen nur mit 33k6 angebunden waren. Die schnellen Verbindungen heute sind recht angenehm, aber sie verführen auch dazu, sich schnell einmal Trash anzusehen. Weil es ja so einfach ist. Und wenn heute nicht einmal 21 Milliarden durch 7 Millionen im Kopf dividiert werden können, (4 Informatiker befragt) dann nähern wir uns schon recht schnell den Zuständen des folgenden Films: Idiocracy

Idiocracy hat allerdings einen entscheidenden Fehler. Die Geschichte ist 2505 angesiedelt, wird sich aber vermutlich bereits 2100 abspielen. Monsanto wird vermutlich der Hersteller und Vermarkter von Brawndo sein. - Und der IQ der Menschen scheint auch in Wirklichkeit geringer zu werden. Ich seh das bei mir: ich habe schon 30 Punkte verloren ...

Früher konnte man vielleicht noch ein Standbild sehen. Aber ich erinnere mich, dass ich da noch mit "<a href= ..." eingebunden habe. Dazu bin ich mittlerweile eh zu faul geworden.

In den vergangenen zwei Tagen habe ich auf zwei verschiedenen Laptops gearbeitet und in den verschiedenen Wartezeiten auf dem Handy und dem iPad Dokumente angesehen.
Das Handy ist kein Problem, das hat einen so anderen Formfaktor, dass ich weiß, dass es anders zu bedienen ist. Doch jetzt im Zug, nachdem derjenige Verspätung hatte und ich am iPad arbeitete, habe ich beim Starten des Laptops lange gebraucht, bis ich überrissen habe, dass es nichts hilft, wenn ich am Bildschirm herum tappe.
Das wäre ja auch kein Problem. An die zunehmende Verkalkung werde ich mich gewöhnen müssen. Doch es überrascht mich, wie sehr ich mich an das Titschi-Tatschi innerhalb weniger Minuten gewöhnen kann.
P.S. Dabei tippe ich sowieso viel lieber. Denn damit bin ich weit schneller.
P.P.S Der Wagon der tschechischen ersten Klasse zeigt auch die Zuggeschwindigkeit an. Die 161 km/h sind durchaus beeindruckend auf der Strecke und wirbeln mich auch ganz schön herum:)
